Amritsar, Apr 14 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was targeting opposition leaders instead of controlling the law and order situation and the latest attack on the petrol pump of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Jodh Singh Samra proved that the AAP wanted to eliminate opposition leaders.
Addressing a press conference here, Majithia said gangsters were openly attacking opposition leaders. He said the attack on the petrol pump at Kaler Mangat village in Majitha Assembly Constituency took place because it was owned by SGPC member Jodh Singh Samra, who was his close aide and Incharge of Akali Dal of Ajnala segment.
The SAD leader said that prime motive of this attack was to target Jodh Singh Samra as he was supposed to visit pump.
Exposing the theory of the police that this was a case of loot, he said the attack took place after the petrol pump was shut down late at night.
Majithia said the attackers parked their bike on the road and started firing indiscriminately.
He said one person was shot dead and two others were seriously injured and attackers did loot even a single rupee from the pump. The SAD leader said this was also a reality that this revenue of this pump was much less that two other pumps located at some distance from it.
Lashing out at the complete failure of the Intelligence and registration of case against Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa, the SAD leader said he had predicted in mid January that attempts were being made to disturb peace and communal harmony in the State and any prominent hindu leader or businessman could be the next target of attackers.
He said two months after this an attack took place at the residence of former Minister Manoranjan Kalia.
Majithia said similarly when Partap Singh Bajwa had come out as a whistle blower and disclosed that there was a threat of more grenade attacks, he had been booked in a frivolous case.
He questioned the CM that even those journalists who had exposed the failure of the intelligence would also be booked.
The SAD leader said that Gangsters were ruling the state and were openly sharing videos and audios claiming attacks in the Punjab.
He said that recent audio clips of Pakistan don Shehzad Bhatti, Sheezan and Happy were a testimony that they were least bothered about police in the State and were openly attacking opposition leaders, police stations and persons who are exposing this government.
Majithia also asked Chief Minister on why police has been deputed to ascertain meeting details of opposition leaders and on visits of those coming for vipasna in Punjab and their accomplices from Delhi.
He advised Chief Minister to not to befool Punjabis anymore and start working for restoration of law and order in the state otherwise it would be too late.
