Drug module busted, 3 held with 10kg heroin

Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) The Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Amritsar police busted an international drug smuggling module operated by a foreign-based smuggler and arrested two of his India-based operatives, both residents of Amritsar, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday.
He said the police recovered 10 kg heroin worth Rs 70 crore in the international market and Rs 1 lakh drug money from them.
DGP Yadav said that the accused Jassa is wanted in multiple NDPS and Arms Act cases. An FIR is registered at the Amritsar police station. Further investigation is underway.
In another operation, the state's Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in a joint operation with SAS Nagar police apprehended Harjinder Singh, a key associate of foreign-based gangster Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri.
DGP Yadav said that the accused was wanted in a case involving an armed attack on rival gang members at Kharar. Preliminary investigation revealed that Harjinder Singh received instructions from his handler abroad and was actively planning a sensational crime in Punjab.
Police recovered three pistols with 14 live cartridges from the accused .
