Punjab: Police arrest key hawala operator with Rs 91 lakh, foreign currency

Chandigarh, Apr 13 (UNI) In a major blow to the narco-hawala networks, Amritsar Rural Police arrested a key operator Gurpal Singh, who played a critical role in managing the financial operations of the syndicate, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Sunday.
He said that police recovered Rs 91 lakh in hawala money, USD 5,000, 34 Dirhams, and a currency counting machine -- clear indicators of the scale and reach of this trans-border network.
"We are actively tracing the financial trail to expose and dismantle the entire ecosystem supporting drug trafficking and organised crime," he said.
