Shimla, Feb 23 (UNI) An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 struck Himachal Pradesh's Mandi here on Sunday morning, an official said.
The seismic event occurred at 08:42 hours, according to the Meteorological Department. The epicenter was pinpointed at a latitude of 31.48 and a longitude of 76.95, with a depth of 7 kilometers.
Fortunately, no loss of life or property has been reported following the tremors. The affected area, particularly Sundernagar, is recognized as a high seismic-prone zone and falls under Schedule 4 for earthquake risk. The region is approximately 150 kilometers from the state capital.
The Mandi district, known for its susceptibility to seismic activity, has experienced similar tremors in the past, prompting ongoing efforts to enhance disaster preparedness in the region.
