At Flag Meet, India, and Pakistan agree to maintain sanctity of ceasefire pact for peace

Jammu, Feb 21 (UNI) India and Pakistan on Friday agreed to maintain the sanctity of the renewed ceasefire agreement for peace along the borders at a Brigadier-Level Flag Meeting held at Chakkan-da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources here said that given recent border tension, a Brigadier-Level Flag Meeting was held between India and Pakistan this morning.
"The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and lasted for more than one-hour," said official sources.
They stated that both sides agreed to honour the ceasefire pact renewed on February 25, 2021, for calm and peaceful borders.
On February 19, alert Army troops early opened fire on seeing a suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri.
On February 16, the Indian army troops effectively retaliated to the firing by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control in the Gulpur sector of Poonch district.
On Feb 14, an army jawan sustained injury in a sniper shot suspected to be fired from across the border in the Keri area of Akhnoor sector.
On Feb 10, an army jawan sustained a bullet injury in suspected firing from across the border in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
On Feb 8, Indian troops effectively retaliated to the firing by suspected terrorists along the Line of Control in Rajouri district.
On the intervening night of February 4 and 5, a major infiltration bid was foiled when a group of suspected terrorists believed to be killed in a landmine explosion on the Line of Control in the Battal area of Krishna Ghati Sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the security scenario in Jammu Division.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the focus should be on complete wipe-out of terrorism from the Jammu Division.
