Blackout order withdrawn in Solan after ceasefire; Governor, CM reinforce unity at Interfaith Meet

Solan/Shimla, May 10 (UNI) Following the formal declaration of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the District Magistrate of Solan, Manmohan Sharma (IAS), withdrew the nighttime blackout imposed earlier in sensitive border-adjacent areas of Solan district.
As per the latest order issued today, restrictions in Tehsil Baddi, Tehsil Nalagarh, and the Municipal Council area of Parwanoo are lifted with immediate effect, bringing relief to residents and industrial units affected by the curbs.
The blackout was initially enforced on May 9 in light of heightened security concerns after cross-border tensions.
With the situation now stabilised, the administration has deemed the precautionary measure unnecessary.
Citizens, commercial establishments, industries, and local bodies have been informed that blackout guidelines are no longer in force.
In a parallel development underscoring national solidarity, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over an Interfaith Harmony Meet at Raj Bhavan, calling for communal unity in the face of provocation.
Joined by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and leaders of various religious communities, the Governor condemned Pakistan’s repeated support for terrorism, citing the recent attack on April 22 and Pakistan’s targeted assault on civilian areas and religious sites across the border.
Calling Pakistan's actions a grave violation of international norms, the Governor emphasised the need for national unity, urging religious leaders to denounce propaganda and counter misinformation on social media.
The Chief Minister echoed the sentiment, praising the Indian Armed Forces for their restraint and reaffirming India’s humane approach even in conflict.
The meeting concluded with a unified appeal to citizens to follow government guidelines and uphold the country’s principles of peace and solidarity.
