Una, May 10 (UNI) Himachal Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday visited Behad-Bhated village in Chintpurni Assembly constituency to inspect the site where a suspected Pakistani rocket fell late Friday night.
The rocket, believed to have been launched from a long-range missile launcher across the border, landed in a deserted area around 1:30 am, creating panic among local residents.
The Deputy Chief Minister, accompanied by Chintpurni MLA Sudarshan Bablu, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, police officers, and administrative officials, assessed the impact site and interacted with villagers.
He commended the alertness of the locals who immediately informed the administration, enabling prompt action and investigation.
Agnihotri said that an expert team has been deployed to analyse the debris and confirmed that the object was a rocket shell.
He assured that all necessary precautions are being taken and urged citizens to avoid handling unknown materials. “Inform the authorities immediately in such situations and do not spread or believe in rumors,” he appealed.
He added, “The Indian Army is capable of giving a strong response to such provocative acts. Our armed forces are always prepared to safeguard the nation, and the country stands united with them in thwarting any terrorist or cross-border mischief.”
Security agencies are on high alert following the incident, and the area has been secured for detailed investigation.
Though no injuries or damage have been reported, officials are taking the matter seriously.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that this act will not go unanswered and called for public cooperation and vigilance in border states.
Further details are expected once the expert team completes its assessment.
