Army says no enemy drones reported at present in J&K, situation calm

Jammu, May 12 (UNI) The Indian Army late on Monday evening said that no enemy drones are being reported at present in Jammu and Kashmir and the situation is calm and under full control.
"No enemy drones are being reported at present. The situation is calm and under full control," Army said in a statement.
However, earlier in the evening, minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, drones were spotted along the International Border in Samba and Jammu districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Drones were spotted in border villages of Samba and Jammu late on Monday evening,” official sources said.
They said that “own troops on seeing the drones engaged them.”
Meanwhile, the Indian Army earlier in a statement said, “a small number of suspected drones being observed near Samba in J&K. Being engaged. There is no need to be alarmed.”
Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a tense spell of cross-border shelling over the past fortnight and the situation escalated on May 7 following “Operation Sindoor” — which targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.
The strikes were launched in response to the deadly attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead.
However, after days of shelling and exchanges of fire, India and Pakistan on Saturday evening, agreed to a ceasefire, providing a breather to residents in the border areas who had been caught in the crossfire and migrated to safer locations.
PM Modi in his address said, “I also want to tell the world community, if we talk to Pakistan it will only be on the issue of terrorism, and it will only be about Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.”
