Srinagar, Apr 21 (UNI) A 43-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a moving train Sunday evening in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Monghall, Anantnag, currently residing at Sofigund Wanpoh Kulgam.
The accident occurred at around 7:30 pm, one kilometer from the Anantnag Railway Station.
According to officials, Bhat was struck by a train traveling from Banihal to Budgam, resulting in his death on the spot.
Following the incident, a police team from the Railway Police Anantnag rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for medico-legal formalities.
Proceedings under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) was initiated at Railway Police Station Anantnag.
Police has advised general public to stay vigilant and careful near the Railway track and avoid unnecessary trespass.
