Storm, rain again create havoc in UP

Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) At least four persons died due to dust storms, rain and lightning in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, while crops have suffered extensive damage in the last 24 hours, official sources said here on Tuesday .
Sources said that four deaths in rain-related accidents were reported from Auraiya, Aligarh and Bahraich, while storm and rain have damaged crops in many areas. "One person died due to lightning in Bahraich, while a farmer died due to falling of a tree in Aligarh. One person died due to wall collapse in Auraiya," they said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed the officials of the districts concerned to conduct relief work with full promptness in view of storm, rain and hailstorm. He said that the officials should visit the area and survey and keep an eye on the relief work.
He said, "In case of loss of life and animal loss due to disaster like lightning, storm and rain immediately distribute relief amounts to the affected. The injured should be given proper treatment."
Yogi has directed that the officers should conduct a survey and assess the crop loss and send a report to the government so that further action can be taken in this regard. He directed that in case of water logging, arrangements for drainage should be made on priority.

Kashmiri journalist detained for 'instigating secessionist sentiment' on social media

Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Tuesday detained a Kashmiri journalist, accusing him of “posting extremist content on social media.”

Police said Hilal Mir, a resident of Bemina Srinagar was detained as he "used to disseminate extremist or distorted content with an intention to disturb peace and promote disaffection and secessionist ideology and present India in a bad shape.”

Police statement didn’t mention Mir as a journalist.
Mir, an independent reporter, has previously worked with media organsations including Hindustan Times and Srinagar based newspapers. He also freelanced for Anadolu Agency, TRT and Huffpost.
