GE Aerospace, IAF ink landmark deal to boost Apache fleet readiness

Bengaluru, Feb 12 (UNI) In a significant development for India-US defence cooperation, GE Aerospace has signed a five-year Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to provide a comprehensive sustainment solution for the T700-GE-701D engines powering India’s AH-64E-I Apache helicopters.
Under the contract, GE Aerospace will be responsible for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) of the T700 engines as well as flight line parts to ensure engine availability to the IAF. The PBL solution is designed to streamline sustainment operations, improve turnaround times, and enhance the operational readiness of the Apache fleet.
The agreement marks another milestone in India-US strategic defence cooperation. With the US emerging as a key partner in India’s military modernisation efforts, the deal underscores growing bilateral engagement in aerospace and technology transfer. Analysts view this as a step towards deepening defence ties, complementing earlier agreements such as the purchase of GE’s F414 engines for India’s indigenous fighter jets.
