Andhra: 15,280 liquor bottles worth Rs 29 lakh destroyed

Vijayawada, Apr 4 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh police destroyed 15,280 liquor bottles, worth Rs 28.97 lakh, by crushing them with a bulldozer in Machilipatnam under Krishna district on Friday.
Krishna district SP R Gangadhar Rao told the media herethat the police seized 15,280 liquor bottles in 814 cases while being transported illegally in Krishna district. The seized liquor was worth Rs 28,97,000. The police also seized 684.83 liters of country-made liquor.
SP Gangadhar Rao said the liquor bottles of various brands and the country-made liquor were spread on the road and crushed with a bulldozer. The police seized the Non Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL) while being transported illegally, the SP added.
The SP said a strict vigil has been laid to prevent illicit liquor, illegal transport of liquor, cannabis, gutka and poker gambling in the district and they are being oppressed with iron hand.
The SP warned of stringent action, if anybody indulged in such anti-social activities. Additional (SP) Admin) VV Naidu, Additional SP (AR) B Satyanarayana and DSPs were present.

Tight security in place for PM's TN visit tomorrow
