Telangana CM vows to achieve 42 pc BC reservations

Telangana CM vows to achieve 42 pc BC reservations

Hyderabad, Mar 17 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his commitment to securing 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) while addressing the Legislative Assembly.

He highlighted that the Congress had promised this increase during its election campaign, with Rahul Gandhi pledging to raise BC reservations to 42 percent if the party came to power.

CM Revanth Reddy announced that his government initiated the BC caste census on February 4, 2024, to ensure accurate data for implementing this enhanced reservation. He thanked all those who participated in the survey and emphasised that there is a broad consensus in Telangana society regarding increased BC reservations.

The Chief Minister revealed that his government is withdrawing the earlier proposal sent by the previous administration to increase BC reservations to 37 percent. Instead, they are submitting a fresh proposal seeking 42 percent reservations.

He called on leaders across party lines to unite in pursuing this goal. CM Revanth urged Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, and the BJP House Leader to help secure an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the reservation increase.

Additionally, he requested Rahul Gandhi to raise the matter in Parliament, entrusting Mahesh Kumar Goud, the party’s state President, with arranging the meeting.

Revanth Reddy assured the Assembly that the BC count included in the census was accurate and vowed that his government would not rest until the 42 percent reservation for BCs was achieved.

He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling this promise, aligning with his earlier statement made in Kamareddy.
