Former Karnataka Minister Nagendra fined in cheque bounce case

Bengaluru, Apr 9 (UNI) A lower court in Karnataka on Wednesday slapped a fine of Rs 1.25 crore on three persons, including former state minister B Nagendra, in a cheque bounce case filed by VSL Steels Limited.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) KN Shivakumar ordered the accused, Nagendra, Anil Rajashekar and ChundurBhaskar, to jointly pay a fine of Rs 1.25 crore. In default, the trio will have to undergo one year of imprisonment.
The case was filed under the Negotiable Instruments Act after cheques issued by the accused were dishonoured. After hearing arguments, the court delivered its verdict sentencing all three.
