Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) A Multi-Activity Display was organised at India's premier
defence training establishment, Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on
Friday.
The Multi-activity display was held as a prelude to the Passing Out Parade
of Officer Cadets of SSC-119, SSC (W)-33 and equivalent courses, tomorrow.
Lt Gen Michael AJ Fernandez, Commandant, OTA, graced the occasion as
Chief Guest.
The display showcased Equestrian, Physical Training Skills, Military Band Display,
Army Martial Art Regime (AMAR), Indian Martial Arts: Kalaraipayattu and Gatka
and Bunker Bursting Drill by the Officer Cadets.
The event unfolded with a seamless exhibition of Physical Training prowess,
highlighting the Academy's commitment to excellence in physical fitness.
This was followed by a riveting display of the Army Martial Art Regime (AMAR)
and an enchanting performance by the Military Band, captivating the audience
with their musical prowess.
The subsequent presentation of martial art form Kalaripayattu, originating from
Kerala's Malabar region, was a harmonious blend of dance, martial music, and
physical dexterity, leaving the spectators spellbound.
This was followed by the Equestrian Display, featuring Cadets and Riding Instructors
of the Horse-Riding Club, exemplified a remarkable harmony between horses and
riders, with display of precision and agility that mesmerized onlookers.
Next in the line was Gatka performance by a team of Sikh Warriors which held the
audience captivated till the end.
The event concluded with bunker bursting drill showcasing the ferocious spirit and
proficiency of the Officer Cadets that left no doubt about their readiness for the
challenges ahead.
Lt Gen Michael Fernandez felicitated all the participants and expressed his
admiration for their exemplary skills, at the time of culmination of the event.
