IIIT Hyd celebrates FC Kohli Day with talk on AI in healthcare and inauguration of CDiTH

Hyderabad, Mar 19 (UNI) The Kohli Centre on Intelligent Systems (KCIS) at IIIT Hyderabad marked the 101st birth anniversary of Sri F.C. Kohli, the father of Indian IT, with the fifth edition of FC Kohli Talks on Wednesday.
Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals and Padma awardee, delivered a captivating lecture on "AI & Healthcare – Opportunities and Challenges," focusing on how AI is transforming the medical field.
Dr. Reddy discussed how AI is revolutionising various medical processes, including pre-and post-surgery, personalized medicine, and patient monitoring. He highlighted AI's effectiveness in areas like colonoscopy and the study of bacteria, improving detection and patient outcomes.
He also shared insights on AI-powered smart hospital beds and toilets, predictive medicine, and drug discovery, emphasising that while AI will not replace doctors, AI-savvy doctors will be more effective in the future.
Dr Reddy also inaugurated the Centre for Digital Technologies in Healthcare (CDiTH), aimed at bridging academic research with clinical practice to enhance healthcare delivery. The center will work in collaboration with AIG Hospitals and focus on leveraging modern digital technologies for real-world impact in healthcare.
Prof PJ Narayanan, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, highlighted the centre's role in advancing healthcare through research, with a focus on bridging the gap between academic and clinical applications. The Kohli Centre, home to one of India’s largest AI research groups, continues to inspire innovation in AI technologies with applications across multiple sectors, including healthcare.
