Kishan Reddy pays tribute to Ambedkar ahead of Jayanti, slams Congress for historical neglect

Hyderabad, Apr 13 (UNI) On the eve of Dr B R Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary, Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy paid a heartfelt tribute by cleaning and garlanding Ambedkar statues at GVK Circle in Banjara Hills (Khairatabad constituency) and at Sitaphal Mandi (Secunderabad constituency) on Sunday.
Speaking to the media during the event, Kishan Reddy said that the BJP government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to preserving and honouring the legacy of Dr Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice.
He highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led government to commemorate Ambedkar’s contributions. “We are inspired by Ambedkar’s thoughts and ideals. His portrait has been placed in the Central Hall of Parliament, and we have developed five key sites related to his life as ‘Panchatirthas’ — spiritual and cultural heritage sites that people from all over India have visited to pay their respects,” he said.
Kishan Reddy stated that these Panchatirthas include Ambedkar’s birthplace at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, which has been transformed into a memorial of national importance.
As part of the BJP’s nationwide program, party workers across the country are cleaning and decorating Ambedkar statues and organizing grand celebrations to mark his birth anniversary. “These efforts reflect our commitment to celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti with pride and respect,” Reddy added.
Lashing out at the Congress, Kishan Reddy accused the party of ignoring and undermining Dr Ambedkar during his lifetime. “Ambedkar was harassed by the Congress till his last breath. Nehru even campaigned to defeat him in elections. Despite his pivotal role in shaping India’s Constitution, he was not awarded the Bharat Ratna during Congress rule,” he said.
He criticised the Congress for honoring others in Parliament ahead of Ambedkar, calling it a grave injustice. “The BJP is correcting those historical wrongs. We are moving forward with Ambedkar’s vision as our guiding light,” Reddy asserted.
He appealed to citizens from all sections of society to participate enthusiastically in the Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations and make it a grand success.
