Advanced machinery enhances Tunnel Relief operations in Nagarkurnool

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Relief operations continue uninterrupted in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal TunnelTunnel (SLBC) in Nagarkurnool district, with advanced technology playing a crucial role in expediting the rescue efforts.

On Friday, Special Chief Secretary for Disaster and Management Arvind Kumar, Nagarkurnool District Collector Badawat Santosh, District SP Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, and senior officials from the relief teams conducted a review meeting at the SLBC Tunnel Office to assess the progress.

Officials announced that specialized machines, including an autonomous hydraulically powered robot, have been deployed to accelerate relief operations inside the tunnel. Additionally, a 30 HP capacity liquid ring vacuum pump and a vacuum tank have been introduced to enhance the efficiency of soil removal, an official statement said.

The vacuum tank is capable of extracting and moving 620 cubic meters of muddy soil per hour via a conveyor belt, significantly improving the pace of excavation. Officials emphasized that the adoption of these advanced technologies would expedite the completion of the rescue efforts.

The rescue operations involve coordinated efforts from multiple expert teams, including the Army, Singareni Mines Rescue Team, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), RAT Miners, Geological Survey of India, Hydra, Anvi Robotics, and South Central Railway. Their combined efforts are crucial to ensuring the mission's success.
