India Women go down 2–3 to Aus Women in thriller

London, June 14 (UNI) The Indian Women's Hockey Team suffered a narrow 2–3 defeat to Australia in their FIH Hockey Pro League 2024/25 (Women) match at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre here on Saturday, despite a spirited second-half fightback.
Trailing 0–3 after 35 minutes, India clawed their way back into the contest with goals from Deepika (44’) and Neha (52’), but the Australians held their nerve in a tense final quarter to seal the victory.
Courtney Schonell (16’), Lexie Pickering (27’) and Tatum Stewart (35’) were on target for Australia, who capitalised on key Indian errors to build a commanding lead. The match also marked a personal milestone for India’s midfielder Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, who made her 50th international appearance.
