Maha poised to become best state in world in foodgrain production & export by using AI: NITI Aayog Fellow

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Debjani Ghosh, Fellow of NITI Aayog and former president of NASSCOM, on Monday expressed that Maharashtra can become the best state in the world in foodgrain production and export by using Artificial Intelligence.
Speaking on the topic of 'Frontier Technology for a Developed Maharashtra' programme organised at the Ministry under 'Tech Wari – Maha Technology Training Week', she said, "The world is currently facing a food shortage crisis. Maharashtra has the capacity to use experts, agricultural equipment, trained workers and new technologies. With proper planning and effective implementation, the state can remain at the forefront of global food exports. Productivity in the agricultural sector can be increased by using new technologies, improved seeds, drones and irrigation systems."
The decade 2020 to 2030 will be the era of artificial intelligence (AI). Fundamental changes can be made in the agriculture, health, energy and manufacturing sectors with the help of AI, she said.
The foundation of the progress of the state of Maharashtra is educational institutions like IIT Mumbai, startup ecosystem, industry, digital economy, green energy and advanced policies, due to which the state can contribute a large share to the country’s GDP, Ms Ghosh added.
