National meeting in Mumbai on Apr 28 to discuss future of coastal fishermen

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) In order to protect the interests of coastal fishermen, solve coastal problems for their future and have a comprehensive discussion on their development plans, a meeting will be organised in Mumbai on April 28 under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Rajiv Ranjan, with Fisheries Ministers of all coastal states in the country.
An official media statement issued here on Thursday stated that the Fisheries Department of the central government is implementing various schemes for fishermen like Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Fisheries and Fisheries Infrastructure Development Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samriddhi Sahay Yojana and Kisan Credit Card.
The objective of these schemes is to promote the growth of fisheries and fisheries and to ensure the socio-economic welfare of fishermen, fish farmers and fish workers.
Coastal states and union territories are promoting seafood production, processing and export to support the livelihood of a large number of fishermen and fish farmers. Through this, they contribute significantly to the Gross National Income and food security of the country.
Accordingly, the future course of fishermen, coastal problems and development plans will be discussed in detail in this meeting, added the statement.
