Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) MLA Kiran Samant, which raised concerns over alleged misuse of social media by influencers, content creators and comedians.
It also named comedian Kunal Kamra, who is currently facing backlash over his controversial comments about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice M S Karnik, while dismissing the plea, in its order said that the reliefs sought by Samant were general in nature and noted that he had an “efficacious remedy” available under the Information Technology Rules to lodge a complaint with the designated nodal officer for blocking such content.
