Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) Youth Congress president Akhilesh Yadav was arrested and remanded to one-day police custody on Sunday for allegedly locking the Enforcement Directorate (ED)'s office located at Ballard Pier Estate in south Mumbai during a protest.

Yadav was arrested late on Saturday night from Andheri by MRA Marg Police Station, following a protest by Youth Congress workers outside the ED office, which was closed due to a public holiday.

He was produced before a local holiday court on Sunday, which remanded him in jail.

On Saturday, Youth Congress activists had staged a protest demonstration in opposition to a chargesheet filed by ED against senior Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

According to Mumbai Police, 15–20 Youth Congress workers gathered outside ED office, raised slogans against the central government and the agency, and recorded a video of the incident, which later went viral on social media.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Pravin Mundhe (Zone 1), the ED office gate was locked with a chain by a security guard at the time of the protest. Despite this, demonstrators assembled and carried out the protest.
