Türkiye takes North Macedonia nightclub fire survivors for treatment

Ankara, Mar 17 (UNI) Nine people injured in a nightclub fire in North Macedonia on Sunday have been brought to Türkiye for treatment, the Turkish Health Ministry said Monday.
At least 59 people have died and over 100 others have been hospitalized after the devastating fire broke out at a nightclub in Kocani, North Macedonia.
Three of the injured were transferred to the burn unit of Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, while the remaining six were taken to Ankara Bilkent City Hospital in the capital Ankara for treatment, said the ministry in a statement.
"We are deeply saddened to learn about the loss of lives and injuries caused by the fire in Kocani, North Macedonia. After swift official communication, we took immediate action," Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu said on social media X.
Memisoglu said that more patients would be transferred for treatment if necessary, reaffirming Türkiye's commitment to supporting Balkan countries.
"With our principle of 'Human First,' we stand in solidarity with our fellow Balkan nations. I pray for a swift recovery for the injured and extend my condolences to the people of North Macedonia," he added.
