Hyderabad, Apr 3 (UNI) Police have refuted reports circulating in certain sections of print and electronic media alleging that a lathicharge was carried out on students at the University of Hyderabad (HCU) on April 2.

In an official statement, DCP Madhapur clarified that no such action took place.

According to the police, a group of protesting students attempted to push both male and female police personnel on duty and tried to snatch a holding rope. In response, only minimal force was used to retrieve the rope and disperse those involved, as evident from available video footage.

The police have urged all stakeholders to verify the authenticity of news before relying on or spreading it to prevent any disruption to peace and law and order.
