New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday said in the Rajya Sabha that the caste system in the country has been abolished under the constitutional provisions and efforts are on to fill up the reserved posts and not reservation in the higher judiciary.
Replying to a supplementary question during the Question Hour, Athawale said that there is no caste system in the country as per the provisions of the Constitution.
The government is committed to providing justice to all and the Modi government is now working towards complete poverty alleviation.
He said that 25 crore people have come out of poverty line under the Modi government.Replying to another supplementary question, he said that there is 15 per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes, 7.5 per cent for Scheduled Tribes and 27 per cent for Other Backward Classes.
There is 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections.
The process of recruitment on reserved vacant posts goes on continuously and the government tries its best to fill these posts.
Replying to another supplementary question, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar said that the Modi government has formulated several schemes for the welfare of the last line of the society.
Compared to the years 2004 to 2014, the allocation for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Persons with Disabilities has been increased manifold.
In this sequence, PM Ajeya Yojana is also being operated, under which such villages come where more than 500 population belongs to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Model Village Scheme, Grant Scheme and Hostel Scheme are being operated for the development of these villages so that such PM invincible villages can also be included in the mainstream of development.
More than 11,000 villages across the country are covered under the scheme and an allocation of over Rs 1,628 crore has been made for it.He said that 1690 villages of Madhya Pradesh come under PM Ajeya Yojana and an amount of more than Rs 210 crore has been allocated for this.
Replying to another supplementary question, Athawale said that there is no reservation in the judiciary of the country, but he will take up the issue of reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to the Law Minister. He was asked how many reserved posts are vacant in the higher judiciary and what is the mechanism to fill them.
