Patna, Mar 20 (UNI) Opposition members created pandemonium in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday over encroachment of land of a school by Narayan Medical College Hospital in Sasaram, belonging to a senior BJP leader, and later staged a walkout from the lower house.
Dissatisfied with the reply of Land Reforms and Revenue Minister Sanjay Saraogi to a starred noticed question of RJD member Fateh Bahadur Singh during the pre-lunch sitting, the opposition members demanding the government to announce a time limit to free the land encroachment by the Medical College Hospital, trooped into the well and shouted slogans.
In his reply, the Minister informed that the Medical College Hospital has been served notice and asked to vacate the land by March 27.
He said that an order was issued on June 3, 2016 to vacate the land. However, the Court had granted stay on the order.
The Minister further said that the stay order was vacated on December 17, 2024. Denying any encroachment of the land by the Medical College Hospital, Saraogi said that in view of the court lifting the stay order, the concerned circle officer issued a legal notice to the hospital to vacate the land by February 4, 2025. The college has been served legal notice again to finally vacate by March 27.
Earlier Singh, through his supplementary question provided details of the land saying that 80 decimal land out of 4 acre 25 decimal government land of a school was encroached by Narayan Medical College Hospital and demanded from the government to apprise the house by what time the land would be free from the encroachment.
To this, Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav said that the legal notice has been served with a time frame to vacate the land by March 27, and till then no action can be taken.
Creating noisy scenes, the RJD members trooped into the well and insisted the government to take cognisance of the encroachment land which belongs to a former State president of the BJP.
Accusing the government for protecting the land mafias, the opposition staged a noisy walkout from the house.
