Our goal is to make Odisha a major industrial hub in Eastern India: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday reaffirmed that his government is committed to transforming Odisha into a major industrial hub in eastern India.

“I am fully confident that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Purvoday’ vision will definitely be realised in Odisha,” Majhi said while addressing a large gathering during the celebration of his government’s first anniversary in the state.

Reflecting on the past year, Majhi recalled that the new BJP government in Odisha was sworn in a year ago in the presence of the Prime Minister.

He noted that the Prime Minister’s presence once again on the government’s first anniversary has significantly boosted the morale of both the administration and the people.

“This is Prime Minister Modi’s sixth visit to Odisha since our government assumed office. It reflects his deep affection and good wishes for the state,” the Chief Minister added.

Majhi highlighted that the Union Government, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, has completed 11 years in office and is now in the first year of its third term.

“With pride and honour, I say that the nation is safe under your leadership. Our armed forces have successfully neutralized terrorists and their sponsors,” he said.

Referring to 'Operation Sindoor', Majhi stated, “This is not just a military operation against terrorism; it is a beacon of hope for the mothers, sisters, and daughters of India.

"Operation Sindoor symbolizes the rise of a new India—one that will never bow down under any circumstances and will shape its own destiny.”

Speaking about national progress, the Chief Minister said India has emerged as the fourth-largest economy in the world and is on track to becoming a $5 trillion economy.

“Poverty has decreased from 27.1 percent to 5.3 percent. This clearly demonstrates that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the country is undergoing a transformative journey and advancing rapidly,” he said.

Majhi also highlighted the achievements of his government in its first year, stating that a clear roadmap has been laid out for the bright future of Odisha’s people.

Presenting a report on the government's performance, he mentioned that farmers have received input assistance of over Rs.800 per quintal for paddy procurement, along with annual financial support of Rs.10,000 under the PM Kisan-CM Kisan Yojana.

He added that over one crore women benefited from the Subhadra Yojana, resulting in the emergence of around 17 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis'.

The Chief Minister said key healthcare schemes like Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana have been effectively implemented.

He noted the adoption of the New Education Policy 2020 as a transformative step in the education sector.

To enhance education infrastructure, Majhi said that under the Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Pratya Vidyalaya Yojana, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are being prepared to establish model schools in every panchayat starting this financial year.

He also mentioned that initiatives like the Heritage School Yojana and PM SHRI Yojana have brought a revolutionary change to education in the state.

Further, to reduce dropout rates among tribal students, schemes such as the Madho Singh Hatkhar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana for mothers have been introduced.

For rural development and welfare, the state government has launched multiple initiatives, including Bikshith Gaon, Bikshith Odisha Yojana, Antyoday Griha Yojana, Construction of modern stadiums in every block, Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana, and Chief Minister Kamdhenu Yojana
