Thiruvananthapuram, May 14 (UNI) So far 242 people have been diagnosed with cancer through cancer screening camps which began on February 4 in Kerala.
About 15.5 lakh people were screened through this campaign, which started on the World Cancer Day, State Health Minister Veena George has said.
As part of the campaign, special cancer screening clinics will be functioning 2 days a week at all family health centers, she added.
The mass cancer campaign being implemented by the Health Department for cancer prevention, awareness and treatment. Instructions were given to ensure further examination and treatment for those who need it, she said.
She also urged people to participate in the screening and ensure that they have no symptoms of cancer which can be treated and cured at the very beginning.
The Minister directed to conduct strong awareness activities aimed at removing fear and anxiety about cancer in the society.
