Over 8 kg opium seized, two held in HP's Solan

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), April 29(UNI) The Himachal police arrested two persons, including a woman, and recovered 8.184 kg opium from their possession on the Pinjore-Shimla national highway at Salogra under Sadar police station of the district.
SP Gaurav Singh said that a police team followed up a tip-off that a man and a woman of Nepali origin were travelling by a bus from Solan to Shimla with a large quantity of opium. They were planning to supply the opium to the people in Shimla area, the SP said.
He said on the basis of the information, the team members organised a Nakabandi near Salogra, conducted a search of the private bus. They recovered 8.184 kg opium from the arrested duo.
Gaurav Singh said during investigation, it was found that the accused had smuggled the opium from Nepal to Himachal and intended to sell it to people in Shimla area.
The accused were produced before a court that remanded them in four-day police custody.
