Parameshwara's sexual assault remark triggers apology

Bengaluru, Apr 8 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Tuesday issued an apology amid mounting criticism over his controversial remarks on a recent sexual assault incident in the city.
"If my words caused hurt, I sincerely apologise," said the Congress leader.
The apology came after widespread backlash, with the Opposition and civil society accusing the Congress-led state government of insensitivity and administrative apathy. Parameshwara's earlier comment - "such incidents happen here and there in big cities" - in response to a brutal assault in BTM Layout, was slammed as dismissive and tone-deaf.
