Patrick Schwarzenegger campaigns for role of Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s rendition of ‘American Psycho’

Los Angeles, May 4 (UNI) Patrick Schwarzenegger has been campaigning aggressively to star as iconic serial killer Patrick Bateman in director Luca Guadagnino‘s upcoming adaptation of ‘American Psycho’.
‘The White Lotus’ and ‘Gen V’ actor, replying to a netizen on X (formerly Twitter) said “I’d love nothing more”, when the fan suggested that he should get the role for the new Lionsgate adaptation of the 2000 black-comedy-horror-thriller classic.
This is not the first time the actor declared his desire to don the suit of Bateman and embark on a murder spree. Schwarzenegger had previously declared it would be “my dream” to play Bateman when the adaptation was announced in October, to be penned by Scott Z. Burns, according to Deadline.
The original film, based on the 1991 eponymous novel by Bret Easton Ellis, was directed by Mary Harron and starred Academy Award winning actor Christian Bale as the young-investment banker- and serial killer-necrophiliac -cannibal Patrick Bateman.
While the movie was not big upon its release, it received positive reviews, and due to Bale’s version of Bateman becoming a massive meme icon by netizens globally, the film is regarded as a global cult classic.
