Bhubaneswar, Mar 17 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the passing of former Union Minister Dr. Debendra Pradhan.
Modi stated that Dr. Debendra Pradhan Ji’s contributions as an MP and Minister were noteworthy, particularly for his emphasis on poverty alleviation and social empowerment.
Taking to his X handle, Modi said, “Dr. Debendra Pradhan Ji made a mark as a hardworking and humble leader. He made numerous efforts to strengthen the BJP in Odisha, and his contributions as an MP and Minister were significant, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation and social empowerment.
Pained by his passing. I went to pay my last respects and expressed my condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”
Meanwhile, the body of Debendra Pradhan, father of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport, from New Delhi where a guard of honor was accorded to the departed soul.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with his Council of Ministers and BJP Odisha unit President Manmohan Samal, paid floral tributes to the late leader.
From the Airport, his body was taken in a procession to the state party office to allow party leaders and workers to pay their last respects.
Finally, from the party office, the mortal remains of Debendra Pradhan will be taken to his residence in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
Family sources stated that the body will be taken to Swargadwar in Puri on Tuesday morning, where the last rites will be performed, and the mortal remains will be consigned to flames.
