New Delhi, Apr 08 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said over Rs 33 lakh crore in collateral-free loans have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and noted that over 70 per cent of Mudra loan beneficiaries are women.
Interacting with beneficiaries of the scheme at his residence, he said, "In the last ten years, more than 52 crore loans worth over 32.6 lakh crore rupees have been sanctioned under the scheme."
The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, which provides collateral-free loans of up to 20 lakh rupees to micro and small enterprises, today completed 10 years, which was launched in April 2015.
At his residence, PM Modi greeted the beneficiaries stating, "I thank you all for coming to my residence. It is said in our scriptures that when guests come to a house, the house becomes pure, so I welcome you all."
Highlighting how the scheme has transformed lives by turning dreams into reality, PM Modi said the initiative has empowered those who were previously overlooked, and underlined that for the people of India, nothing is impossible.
PM Modi said the Mudra Yojana was introduced to provide financial support to the countless individuals and enable them to showcase their entrepreneurial skills.
He highlighted that the scheme aims to empower youth of the country, making them self-reliant and confident, with the ability to become job creators rather than just job seekers.
Praising women's participation, Modi said, "In Mudra scheme, the highest number of women have come forward. Women have applied for the most loans, received the most loans, and are also the fastest to repay them."
"The PM MUDRA Yojana isn’t just a loan scheme — it’s a powerful movement driving financial inclusion, strengthening women participation, and promoting self-reliance at the community level," he added.
