PM Modi receives phone calls from world leaders conveying support over Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi received phone calls from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, King Abdullah of Jordan, Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and Egyptian President Abdelfatah El-sisi, conveying their support for India over the Pahalgam terror attack.

The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X:

“PM @netanyahu of Israel called PM @narendramodi and strongly condemned the terror attack on Indian soil. He expressed solidarity with the people of India, and the families of the victims.

“PM Modi shared the barbaric nature of the cross border terrorist attack and reiterated India’s firm resolve to bring the perpetrators and their supporters to justice.”

The Israeli PM said on X:

“I spoke today with Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi and expressed my condolences, and those of the people of Israel, to the people of India following the Islamic terrorist attack in Kashmir.

“Prime Minister Modi thanked me for sharing in India's grief and emphasized that our two countries stand shoulder to shoulder in the critical fight against murderous terrorism.

“We also discussed advancing the Transport and Communications Corridor initiative, which will connect Asia — via Saudi Arabia and Israel — to the European continent.”

On the talk with the Jordanian King Abdullah, the MEA spokesperson posted:

“HM @KingAbdullahII of Jordan called PM @narendramodi and strongly condemned the ghastly terror attack. He conveyed sincere condolences at the loss of innocent lives.

“He said that terrorism should be rejected in all its forms and manifestations and there can be no justification. PM thanked HM King Abdullah (II) for his message of solidarity and shared the sentiments of the people of India to take firm action against the perpetrators and those behind this heinous attack.”

On the talk with the Japanese PM, he wrote:

“PM @shigeruishiba of Japan called PM @narendramodi and expressed his deepest condolences at the loss of lives in the terror attack in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

“He said that terrorism cannot be justified. Both leaders emphasised that terrorism is a grave threat to humanity. Those who believe in democracy should stand united in the fight against terrorism. PM shared assessment of the cross border terror attack and India’s resolve to deal with it firmly and decisively.”

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, that the phone call lasted 20 minutes.

“At the outset, Prime Minister ISHIBA extended his sincere condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Prime Minister ISHIBA also stated that terrorism cannot be justified for any reason and Japan strongly condemns all forms of terrorism. Prime Minister ISHIBA also stated that Japan is firmly committed to combatting terrorism in cooperation with India and the international community.

“Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the word of condolences and solidarity shown by Prime Minister ISHIBA and stated that he would like to cooperate with Japan in the fight against terrorism.”

On the talk with the French President Emmanuel Macron, the MEA said:

“President @EmmanuelMacron called Prime Minister @narendramodi and conveyed his personal condolences on the brutal killing of innocent people in the heinous terror attack in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

“He strongly condemned the attack and expressed full support and solidarity with the people of India adding that this kind of barbarism is totally unacceptable.

“Prime Minister thanked him for his message of support and conveyed India’s strong resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

On the talk with the Italian PM, the MEA said:

“Prime Minister @GiorgiaMeloni called Prime Minister @narendramodi and strongly condemned the terrible terror attack on Indian soil.

“She conveyed her thoughts and prayers for the victims and wished a speedy recovery of those injured. She expressed full support of Italy in the fight against terrorism.

“PM Modi appreciated her call and the clear message of support against terrorism and those behind it. India and Italy will continue to work together including in international platforms to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts.”

On the talk with the Egyptian President, the MEA said:

“President of Egypt @AlsisiOfficial called Prime Minister @narendramodi and conveyed his sincere condolences on the loss of precious lives in the ghastly terror attack on Indian soil.

“He strongly condemned the terror attack. President Sisi reiterated that Egypt stands shoulder to shoulder with India, in the fight against terrorism.

“PM briefed President Al Sisi about the cross-border terror attack, and thanked him for his support and solidarity.”

The Egyptian President’s office said in a statement:

“The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi expressed his sincere condolences to the Indian government and expressed Egypt's solidarity with the families of the victims of the terrorist attack targeting Indian tourists in Kashmir.

“The President emphasized Egypt's condemnation of all forms of terrorist acts and highlighted Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism and extremism through a comprehensive approach that takes into account all dimensions related to this phenomenon. The Indian prime minister expressed his appreciation for the kind gesture and emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and peoples.

“The call touched on bilateral relations, and both sides emphasized the importance of joint action to turn the strategic partnership between the two countries into tangible cooperation projects and programs across various fields. This is in addition to intensifying high-level communication to explore new prospects for cooperation to achieve the aspirations of both peoples for progress and prosperity.”
