Police arrest two criminals for double murder in Ghazipur

Ghazipur (UP), Mar 22 (UNI) Two criminals involved in a double murder were arrested in an encounter with the police from Khanpur area of Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Saturday.
Police sources said that two youths were shot dead in the Uchori village of Khanpur on Friday. "Their bodies were found in an orchard outside the village. The deceased were identified as Aman Chauhan (18) and Anurag Singh (29)," they said.
Police said that during vehicle checking on Friday night, the police received information that the accused involved in the double murder were coming from Rampur crossing. "Based on the information the Khanpur police surrounded three persons coming from Anuni on a motorcycle. When they were signalled to stop, the miscreants targeted the police team and fired two rounds from a country-made pistol," they said.
Police sources said that two miscreants sustained bullet injuries in their legs and were arrested. "The injured miscreants were sent to CHC Saidpur for first aid. Another miscreant took advantage of the darkness managed to escape from the spot with his motorcycle," they said.
Police sources said that the arrested miscreants have been identified as Ankit Sonkar (23) and Meraj (22).
