Chandauli (UP), Mar 23 (UNI) Two young sportspersons were killed when a motorcycle while crossing a closed railway gate was hit by a train in Alinagar area of Chandauli district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that Pramod Paswan (24), a resident of Arari village in Chakia, lived in his maternal home in Dayalpur. "He was a football player and used to go to play every day in the ground near Tarajivanpur village," they said.
Police sources said that on Sunday morning, Pramod was going for practice along with his friend Akash Yadav (22) on a motorcycle. "While crossing the closed railway gate near Tarajivanpur railway crossing, the motorcycle was hit by a MEMU train. Both the youths died on the spot," they said.
Police sources said that the motorcycle got stuck in the engine of the train and was dragged for about a kilometre up to Sahroi village. "As soon as the incident was reported, the family and a large number of villagers reached there. After getting the information, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Tarajivanpur police also reached there," they said.
