Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 24 (UNI) Former Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar was officially announced as the new President of the Kerala BJP by Union Minister Prahlad Joshi here on Monday.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar was also handed over the party flag by outgoing state president K Surendran and Prahlad Joshi, who is also party's election observer, after the party State council meeting this afternoon.
The announcement took place in the presence of senior national BJP leaders Prakash Javadekar and Aparajita Sarangi, co-returning officer, and Narayanan Namboothiri, returning officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Prahlad Joshi said the Congress party in Kerala is totally involved in corruption and violence. He also called upon the people to make use of various central welfare schemes for the betterment of people in Kerala.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar is a former Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology. He also contested as a BJP candidate against Congress party's Shashi Tharoor in the previous Lok Sabha election from the Thiruvananthapuram seat.
