Recover damages from rioters: Maha CM

Nagpur, Mar 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday gave an order to authorities that entire public property, which was lost during recent Nagpur violence, will be compensated by the rioters.
Addressing a press conference here after attending a meeting regarding law and order to take stock of incident in Nagpur city along with top government officials, he said that the property of rioters will be sold and full compensation amount will be recovered from them.
For this purpose, he directed officials to take joint action by the Municipal Corporation, District Administration and Police Department.
Fadnavis said that as many as 71 vehicles and various properties have been extensively damaged in the riots.
The district administration has started the process of 'panchnama' regarding the damage.
He directed that strict action be taken against the rioters who disturb peace so that such incidents do not happen in future.
Fadnavis said that even after the police took action against those who protested in the afternoon for their demand to raze Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb, riots were instigated by social miscreants later in the evening.
However, the police department took immediate action and brought the riot under control, he pointed.
In this violence, a large number of vehicles and property had been damaged while 34 policemen were injured in stone pelting incident, he informed.
He directed the police department to be vigilant and take strict action to ensure that such incidents do not happen in any part of the city.
