Reopen cases of terror victims that were "deliberately ignored or buried": LG to officers

Srinagar, July 1(UNI) Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, today directed Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to reopen cases of terror victims that were "deliberately ignored or buried", file FIRs, and ensure that government jobs are provided to their next of kin on a priority basis.
The directions came two days after LG met the family members of Kashmiri civilians who were killed by terrorists in last three decades. The LG had told the families that they were marginalised for decades, and their voices were not heard.

An official spokesman said the LG chaired a high-level meeting and discussed the issues concerning victim families whose loved ones were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.

The Lt Governor directed the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to reopen cases which were deliberately buried and file an FIR (first information report) and ensure jobs are provided to NoKs on priority.
He further directed them to take immediate measures to free terror victim families’ property and land grabbed by terrorists or their sympathisers.

“Identify those elements from terror ecosystem who were involved in killing of common Kashmiris and currently working in Government Departments,” the LG told officers.

Financial assistance under MUDRA and handholding must be extended to the terror victim family members who want to start their self-employment venture, the Lt Governor told the officials.

The Lt Governor said a Special Cell will be established in LG Secretariat to address concerns of terror victim families.
He further asked the Chief Secretary to set up a similar cell in his office. A Toll-free number should also be notified for the assistance of terror victims' families, he said.

“Every possible assistance would be provided to terror victim families and culprits roaming free for many decades will be brought to justice,” the Lt Governor added.

Meanwhile, LG Sinha today flagged off the fleet of ambulances for the Hospitals in Ramban and Anantnag Districts.
A total 5 Ambulances were donated by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) through M/S Quazigund Expressway Private Limited for Hospitals at Qazigund, Banihal, Ramban, Batote, and Gool, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The deployment of the Ambulances will strengthen emergency healthcare services and ensure timely medical care to the people.
