RGIPT student dies after falling from hostel window in Amethi

Amethi (UP), Apr 18 (UNI) A student of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) died after falling from the hostel window under mysterious circumstances in Jais area of Amethi district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that it has been said that Abhinav Anand, an MBA third year student at RGIPT, jumped from the hostel window on the sixth floor window at around 4 am. "The youth is said to be a resident of Patna in Bihar state," they said.
Police sources said that the security guards of RGIPT took the student to the hospital after the incident where he died. "The body of the student has been kept in the mortuary of Rae Bareli District Hospital," they said.
However, no official statement has been issued by the RGIPT administration in this matter so far. The doubt still remains whether the cause of the youth's death is suicide or an accident. A police team has reached the spot to investigate the incident.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amethi Harendra Singh said that the police received information that a student jumped from the hostel building at RGIPT at around 4 am. "He was admitted to the hospital in serious condition by the security guards of the institute. He was still breathing till then, but died on reaching the hospital," he said.
He said that the student has been identified as Abhinav Anand, a resident of Patna in Bihar. "At present, the case is being investigated. The reason for the incident will be clear only after the investigation," he said.
