RSP registers best-ever performances in key areas in Q1

Bhubaneswar, July 3 (UNI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of the Maharatna company SAIL, has set new benchmarks by registering its best-ever performance across several key production areas during the first quarter (April–June 2025) of the current financial year.
During this period, RSP produced 10,09,657 tonnes of crude steel, surpassing its previous record of 10,02,960 tonnes achieved in Q1 of FY 2023-24.
The Steel Melting Shop-II also achieved a milestone, producing 8,98,495 tonnes of crude steel — its highest-ever first-quarter output — exceeding the earlier best of 8,87,894 tonnes recorded in Q1 of FY 2022-23.
Caster-III played a major role in this achievement by casting 4,11,860 tonnes of slabs, marking its best-ever Q1 performance.
Blast Furnace-5, Durga, tapped 8,23,415 tonnes of hot metal, setting a new April–June record and registering an impressive 18 percent growth over the corresponding period last year (CPLY). Similarly, Blast Furnace-1, Parvati, tapped 2,67,759 tonnes, marking a significant growth of 27.3 percent over CPLY.
The Sinter Plants collectively produced 17,89,481 tonnes of sinter, surpassing the previous record of 17,77,439 tonnes achieved in Q1 of FY 2022-23.
On the downstream side, Hot Strip Mill-2 rolled out 6,61,487 tonnes of HR coils — its highest-ever Q1 production — reflecting a 9.5 percent growth over CPLY. Both the New Plate Mill and the Plate Mill set new quarterly records with productions of 2,38,690 tonnes and 1,36,622 tonnes, respectively.
Additionally, the New Sheet Shearing Line of HSM-2 recorded its best Q1 performance with 71,819 tonnes of HR sheets.
