SBM Advisor urges Odisha Govt to promote dairy farming to reduce migration

Bhubaneswar, Apr 22 (UNI) An advisor from SBM has suggested that the Odisha government address the pressing issue of migrant workers displacement by promoting milk production and dairy farming within the state.
The SBM Advisor gave a PowerPoint presentation to Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo during a meeting held here on Tuesday, outlining strategies to mitigate the displacement of migrant workers.
Singh Deo, who currently serves as the Chairman of the task force formed to reduce distress migration, stated that the causes behind the displacement of migrant workers vary from district to district, and the government is taking the issue seriously.
He advised officials to conduct a thorough analysis and implement appropriate measures. Strengthening rural livelihoods through dairy farming and cattle rearing could be a viable solution, Deo added.
During the meeting, it was discussed that the problem of labour migration can be significantly reduced by empowering women and providing them with a stable source of income throughout the year.
A representative from SBM Advisor LLP also recommended that incentives be extended to the private sector in addition to the implementation of existing government schemes.
Odisha Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, along with senior government officials, were present at the meeting.
