Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) The equity market on Tuesday opened weak at 82,249.60 pts, falling 180 pts. It further crashed 919.36 pts at 81,510.54 till 1045 hrs as selling was seen across the board amid positive global cues
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 180.65 pts at 24,744.05 pts.
High volatility was witnessed, as the BSE Sensex registered intraday high at 82,572.81 and intraday low at 81,336.04 pts respectively.
All stocks were in red, especially IT, technology and industrials slipped more than one per cent.
The Nifty registered day's high at 24,973.80 and low at 24,634.90 pts.
The market will also monitor quarterly financial results from prominent firms like Bharti Airtel and Tata Motors, which could influence sector performance.
The Mid cap gained 0.44 pc and Small cap by 0.97 pc. In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined.
The losers were Infosys by 2.81 pc to Rs 1581, Eternal by 2.27 pc to Rs 234.40 Powergrid by 2.18 pc to Rs 302.30 and HCL Technologies by 2.09 pc to Rs 1634.70.
The gainers were Bajaj Finance by 0.82 pc to Rs 9091, Tech Mahindra by 0.69 pc to Rs 1583.45 and Sun Pharma by 0.65 pc to Rs 1697.25.
