Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday rose by 237.15 points to 81,599.02 in early trade as buying was seen in telecom, healthcare, banking, realty, tech and commodities stocks, despite persistent global investor concerns over escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
The Nifty too advanced by 69.15 pts to 24,862.40.
Sensex registered intra-day highs and lows at 81,631.64 and 81,323.20, respectively.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 24,869.85 and a low at 24,783.65 pts.
Midcap advanced by 141.87 points, and small cap rose by 210.23 pts.
Sectoral gainers were commodities by 0.15 pc, energy by 0.01 pc, FMCG by 0.08 pc, financial by 0.31, healthcare by 0.19 pc, industrial by 0.01 pc, and utilities by 0.25 pc.
Telecom by 0.93 pc, Bankex by 0.18 pc, Capital Goods by 0.03 pc, Metal by 0.21 pc, Realty by 0.62 and Treck by 0.12.
Sectoral losers were IT by 0.01 pc, consumer durables by 0.12 pc and consumer durables by 0.07 pc.
Sensex gainers were M&M by 0.94 pc to Rs 3,121.00, Eternal by 0.84 pc to Rs 251.45, Bharti Airtel by 0.74 pc to Rs 1,889.45, Ultratech by 0.61 pc to Rs 11,477.45 and HDFC Bank by 0.49 pc to Rs 1,944.20.
Sensex losers were Indus Bank by 0.93 pc to Rs 829.75, Bajaj Finance by 0.62 pc to Rs 894.15, Tech Mahindra by 0.47 pc to Rs 1,675.00, Kotak Bank by 0.30 pc to Rs 2,138.85 and HCL Tech by 0.09 pc to Rs 1,712.35.
