Skill development projects in Manipur reviewed

Imphal, May 2 (UNI) Tenzing Choesang, Mission Manager (Skills), Union Ministry of Rural Development, who is on a three-day official visit to Manipur from April 30 to May 2, reviewed the progress of ongoing projects under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).
He also reviewed the functioning of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) across key districts in the state under the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission.

The visit included detailed assessments of ongoing and closing projects under DDU-GKY 1.0, with a special focus on the training provided by Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs). In addition, Choesang held discussions with state officials and stakeholders to understand operational challenges in implementing the skill development training programs in the state.
During her interaction with the trainees and staff, she appreciated the grassroots efforts in equipping rural youth with market-relevant skills and also distributed job offer letters to candidates who had secured placements at various star hotels across the country.
Choesang also visited the RSETI centres in Imphal West and Kakching. She held discussions with the Directors of RSETI Imphal West and Kakching, focusing on training quality, institutional support, and placement outcomes. Officials from the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), along with District and Block Coordinators from Imphal West, Kakching, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts, supported the visit.
Further, she visited the IRDEO at Wangbal, Thoubal, and the SSV DDU-GKY Centre at Thoubal Athokpam—both PIAs under the DDU-GKY scheme—and interacted with trainees and project staff.
Choesang held a comprehensive meeting with the SMMU team in Imphal. The session included participation from all District and Block Coordinators of Bishnupur District.
