Soldier shoots self in Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Sukma, May 14 (UNI) Amid heightened action against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, a soldier belonging to Gopaniya Sainik (secret force) Sodhi Somra allegedly shot himself with his service rifle on Wednesday. He was stationed at Sukma, the hotbed of Naxal activities.

Police said Somra, a resident of Irawati village under the Bejji police station, was rushed to a hospital in a serious condition, where he was declared dead.

The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
