Prioritise timely implementation of projects: MP Dy CM during review meet of health department

Bhopal, May 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla on Wednesday emphasised that the state government is committed to developing healthcare infrastructure and that there is no shortage of resources.

“What is required is the effective utilisation of the available budget in a timely manner,” he emphasised.
Shukla reviewed the progress of capital budget plans, physical status of construction works, equipment procurement, and agency-wise functions in a high-level meeting of the Health Department at the Secretariat.

He directed that the pace of construction works be accelerated and prioritised timely and quality implementation.
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that departmental officers are responsible for maximising the utilisation of funds provided by the state and central governments to strengthen healthcare services.

He expressed dissatisfaction at the slow progress of works and directed that all implementing agencies, including PIU, BDC, and B&R, be regularly reviewed on a monthly basis.

Shukla instructed that all infrastructural construction works be continuously monitored, and agencies be alerted in time to expedite works.

He directed that construction and upgradation works of medical colleges, nursing colleges, primary health centres, and sub-health centres be completed within the stipulated time frame, ensuring transparency and quality in equipment procurement.

The meeting reviewed infrastructure development works in progress at various locations, including Mandla, Sheopur, and Rajgarh, and procurement of equipment for PG and UG courses.

Shukla emphasised a three-pronged strategy focusing on quality, timelines, and budget utilisation to make Madhya Pradesh a leading state in healthcare.

The meeting was informed that the state government has approved Rs 430 crore for the health sector under the 15th Finance Commission's recommendations, which is being utilised for hospital and dispensary building construction. A proposal to increase the capital expenditure ceiling by over 15% in the first quarter is under consideration to accelerate construction works.

The department has Rs 476 crore available under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and Rs 365.67 crore under centrally sponsored schemes for medical education.

Shukla directed that these funds be utilised quickly to receive timely allocation from the Centre.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of utilisation of funds for establishing new medical colleges, strengthening PG courses, increasing MBBS seats, and constructing new nursing colleges under centrally sponsored schemes.

Shukla directed that decisions on cost revision, contract extension, and administrative approvals be taken promptly to complete works in a time-bound manner.
