Chennai, May 12 (UNI) Tami Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will
inaugurate the 127th edition of the annual Flower Show at Ooty--
Udhagamandalam which is popularly called as Queen of Hill
Stations--on May 15.
The Flower show which will attracts thousands of tourists will be
held at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty in the hilly Nilgiris
district, which is one of the most preferred destinations for the people
during the summer vacation.
Organized by the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops
in collaboration with the Nilgiris district administration, the event has
been extended from five to ten days this year to accommodate an
expected surge in tourist footfall and to enhance public engagement.
The event will be held till May 25.
Embarking on a five-day visit to the Nilgiris, the Chief Minister left
Chennai on Monday for Coimbatore by air.
From Coimbatore, he reached the cool climes of Ooty by road this
evening. at 10 a.m.
During his visit, Mr Stalin will take part in a number of welfare initiatives,
visit Doddabetta--the tallest peak- and interact with the members of the
tribal community and the Badaga tribals.
The flower show would showcase the region’s rich horticultural heritage
through meticulously curated floral exhibits.
