SW Monsoon likely to advance into Bay of Bengal around May 13

Pune, May 10 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into the south Andaman Sea, some parts of southeast Bay of Bengal and the Nicobar Islands around May 13, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
Day Temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1 degree Celsius or more) at isolated segments over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
They were appreciably above normal (3.1 to 5.0 degree C) at a few chunks over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, at isolated areas over Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, IMD bulletin said.
The temperatures were above norm (1.6 to 3.0 degree C) at many corners over Gangetic West Bengal; at isolated locations over Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe.
The temperatures were markedly below normal (minus 5.1 degree C or below) at many sectors over Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region.
They were also markedly below par at isolated portions over Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh.
They were appreciably below norm (minus 3.1°C to minus 5.0 degree C) at isolated tracts over Vidarbha, east Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.
The temperatures were below normal (minus 1.6 to minus 3.0 degree C) at many locales over east Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa and Punjab.
They were below par at a few spots over Telangana, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and north interior Karnataka while they were normal over rest of the country.
On Saturday, the highest maximum temperature of 42.0 degree C was reported at Prayagraj (eastern Uttar Pradesh) in the country.
Rain or thundershowers had occurred at many divisions in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at a few nooks in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Saurashtra and Kutch.
Rain or thundershowers had also occurred at isolated sections in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Region, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka.
Mainly dry weather prevailed over Marathwada, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep, IMD said.
Following observations for past 24 hours were recorded at 8.30 am on Saturday morning.
